Coaching Supervision
Supervision is in essence reflective, and it is a well-established principle that reflective practice improves performance. Even a small amount of reflective practice, carefully and rigorously applied, will improve your coaching.
Why should you have supervision?
|
Although there are many technical and ethical answers to this question, the basic reality is that supervision will make your coaching easier and more effective. You will enjoy your work more and your clients will benefit more.
The Association for Coaching, a professional body committed to sustaining and advancing good coaching practice, has now said that they regard supervision as essential for all applicants seeking individual coach accreditation. In their recently released guidance, they indicate that: The primary purpose of the Coach Supervisor is to ensure that the coach is addressing the needs of the client as well as monitoring the relationship between the coach and client to maximise its effectiveness. In addition, coach supervision is a way of ensuring that ethical standards are adhered to throughout the coaching process. |
Why would you have supervision with Cathy?

Cathy says.....
I am experienced and qualified as a coach and as a supervisor which means that you benefit from my investment in my own development. Qualified and UKCP accredited as a psychotherapist after qualifying as a coach means that I have a good understanding of unconscious process and transformational change. Many years of working both as a coach and with other coaches mean that I have seen a wide range of situations up close. After nearly thirty years as a dually qualified accountant (US CPA and UK ACA) and MBA, I have an excellent understanding of the business imperatives which affect many of you and your clients. More than two decades of running my own business, working with public and private sector clients, have given me useful insight into the organisational pressures under which you and your clients may be working. |
How much supervision do you need?
